Simulating a pulsed-power-driven plasma with ideal MHD

We describe a simple practical numerical method for simulating plasma driven within vacuum chamber by pulsed power generator. Typically, in this type of simulation, the region adjacent to is approximated as highly resistive, light fluid; involves computationally expensive solvers describing diffusion magnetic field through fluid. Instead, we provide recipe coupling generators MHD domain approximating perfectly insulating light, conducting, inviscid fluid and discuss applicability counter-intuitive technique. This, much more affordable ideal representation, particularly useful situations where exhibits interesting three-dimensional phenomena, either due design experiment or developing instabilities. verified that works modeling an exactly solvable flux compression generator well self-similar Noh-like solution demonstrated convergence theoretical solution. also showed examples complex devices with release our code implementation public.
